Social Media Strategies for Business By The Pizza Man Who Gets It!

“We serve people and we create experiences.” Ramon de Leon
On February 22, 2010 Ramon de Leon, CEO of the Domino’s pizza chain in Chicago, gave the keynote speech at the Gravity Summit held at UCLA. Ramon is the self proclaimed “Pizza Man Who Gets It” and after watching this video I think you would all agree! Ramon has been online with his pizza business since 1998 and has been a pioneer in his strategic use of social media to connect with people.
And similar to how Apple changed the way people experience music, Ramon is using social media to change the way his customers experience his services as a high quality pizza delivery business. Comparing a pizza business to Apple may be hard for people to grasp but let’s give it a chance. For example, if the CEO’s of Tower Records realized that they were selling the EXPERIENCE (the way in which digital media is shared) and not just the physical CD (the product), they might not have gone out of business so quickly. And back in those days who would have thought that Apple would take over the music industry like it has? It’s because Apple understood what they were selling and focused on the experience.
We have a huge opportunity to make a revolutionary change in the way our customers experience our products and services through social media. As long as we use our creativity and learn from others like Ramon to improve our customer experience, our businesses and pocketbooks will definitely thank us!
I hope this keynote speech provided by @Ramon_DeLeon provides as much value to you as it has for us! Please connect with us and share your thoughts!
REMEMBER… “Social Media is made of up tools you can use in addition to your core business plan. It is not meant to replace it.” – Ramon de Leon
